Civil War Era Dresses

Hey Bloggers!

I'm sorry that it has been two weeks since I've updated. It has been busy around here. The dress that I was working on in the last post was finished and sold the next day. It was only on Etsy for 2 hours! A quick sale like that makes for a very happy seamstress. :)
Here is how it turned out:

Since it sold so quickly, I used the same pattern and made another dress that was listed on the 19th and it sold the next day. I changed up the ribbon placement.
Here it how it turned out:

I bought a new pattern, the Heritage Wrap Dress pattern from Liberty Jane. I'm working on leading a Sew Along on AG Dollhouse with it starting on March 1st. Yesterday I finished and listed this dress:

Here is the listing: Spring Green Wrap Top Dress

Now I am working on another Civil War Era dress using a different pattern from the same person that made the pattern I used for the first two dresses.

Sneak peek from the sewing desk

Posting this from my phone to give my readers a sneak peek of the Spring dress I'm working on with Addy in mind. It's a cold day here in SC (finally), so working on a Spring dress is helping me think warming thoughts.
Look for it in my Etsy shop later this week.

We're back, baby!

Happy February! Not just because of Valentine's Day, but because my site and Etsy shop are up and running today as I promised in my last post.

So, in my last post, I listed the goals I wanted to achieve (and continue to achieve) by today. Here is how they have panned out so far:
  • Have at least 20 items in stock at all times
    • 2/1/12 - I currently have 29 items on hand.
  • Take better pictures (I'm getting a new camera for Christmas, so I hope that helps)
    • 2/1/12 - The camera I was getting for Christmas hasn't turned up yet. LOL! My mom can't remember where she put it so it never got wrapped or put under the tree. It's okay Mom, I love you anyways. :)
  • Take more pictures of each outfit (front, side, side, back, and detail)
    • 2/1/12 - Coming along nicely
  • Produce and list a new item every other week
    • 2/1/12 - So far I'm ahead of schedule
  • Advertise more. Here, Facebook, locally, etc.
    • 2/1/12 - Still a work in progress. But my fan page has gained some more fans during my down time.
  • Revamp my website

I've tried to make sure I've continued to have a nice assortment of modern and historical items. I'm also back to taking special orders since my schedule now allows for it (or at least until the kids get out of school for the summer).

During the 6 weeks I had the shop closed has been a mixed blessing. I've enjoyed taking my time at my sewing machine and completing some projects that had been cast aside while they were in the process. I've stopped scrapbooking at home (for now) which means that my sewing machine is always on my desk.
Last week I forced myself to clean up my fabric stash. Most of it was boxed up according to color, but when I ran out of boxes, I just washed/dried/folded the new fabrics and stacked them in my fabric closet. So, I cleared out both fabric closets, sorted the orphaned fabrics, and put everything back in a nice, neat, and orderly fashion. I knew I had a lot of fabric, but sorting through my stash I realized I have a lot more than I thought. I've got enough to open up my own shop! LOL!

Speaking of opening a shop, here is the link for my Etsy shop!

And after a lot of thought, here is my favorite of the creations I made while the shop was closed:
So sweet and simple, but so cute at the same time.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your support! You guys rock!

Until next time...
